ETO PUBLISHES AUGUST ECONOMIC INDICATORS REPORT

Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce (ETO) has published the August edition of its monthly Economic Indicators Report, which is regularly prepared and shared with its members and the public.

The report covers various economic data, including exchange rates, CPI (Consumer Price Index) and PPI (Producer Price Index) rates, monthly total export performance, import and export figures, housing sales, the number of new and closed businesses, cheques paid, and the distribution of returned cheques. The report also includes data on protested promissory notes, central government budget revenues and expenditures, unemployment rates, labor statistics, the number of building permits issued by Tepebaşı and Odunpazarı municipalities, income tax and active taxpayer numbers, corporate tax active taxpayer numbers, as well as the distribution of cash loans by public and private banks.

Number of Closed Businesses Declines in August

The report highlights that in July 2023, 1,781 homes were sold in Eskişehir, while the number rose to 1,881 in July 2024. According to TÜİK (Turkish Statistical Institute) data, the number of homes sold in Eskişehir in July 2024 accounted for 1.46% of the total homes sold across Turkey. Additionally, Eskişehir Trade Registry data shows that 49 businesses were closed in August 2023, whereas 42 businesses closed in August 2024, marking a decrease.

The Number of Returned Cheques Increased by 85.86%

The report also presents data from the Turkish Banks Association (TBB), showing that the amount of returned cheques in Eskişehir rose by 294.12%, from 25,915.41 TRY in July 2023 to 102,137.61 TRY in July 2024. Moreover, the number of returned cheques increased by 85.86%, from 99 cheques in July 2023 to 184 in July 2024.

Decline in Building Permits in Tepebaşı

According to the report, the number of building permits in Tepebaşı decreased from 167 in July 2023 to 129 in July 2024. On the other hand, the number of building permits issued in Odunpazarı rose from 60 to 75 during the same period.
