ETO PUBLISHES JULY ECONOMIC INDICATORS REPORT

The Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce has released the July edition of its monthly Economic Indicators Report, which compiles economic data for ETO members and the public.

The July report includes information on exchange rates, Consumer Price Index (CPI) and Producer Price Index (PPI) rates, month-by-month total export performance, import and export figures, housing sales, the number of newly opened and closed businesses, the distribution of bounced checks, the distribution of protested notes, and the cash loan distribution of public and private banks.

Export Figures and New Business Openings Increased in July

The report indicates that Eskişehir's exports increased by 33.86% compared to July of the previous year. In June 2023, 1,283 homes were sold, while in June 2024, this number was recorded at 1,083. According to the Eskişehir Trade Registry Office, the number of new businesses opened in July 2023 was 128, which rose to 161 in July 2024. The number of closed businesses was 67 in July 2023, and it slightly increased to 68 in July 2024.

Amount of Bounced Checks Increased in June 2024

The report also highlights that, according to the Turkish Banking Association, the total amount of bounced checks in Eskişehir rose from 8,319.70 TL in June 2023 to 63,514.56 TL in June 2024, marking an increase of 663.42%. It was noted that the distribution of protested notes in Eskişehir also increased in both quantity and amount.

211.54% Increase in Protested Note Amounts

According to the Turkish Banking Association (TBB), the amount of protested notes in Eskişehir increased from 5,904,772 TL in June 2023 to 18,395,464 TL in June 2024, reflecting a 211.54% rise. The report indicates that the number of protested notes in June 2024 rose by 33.61% compared to the same period last year, increasing from 119 to 159.
