The June edition of the Eskişehir Economic Indicators Report, prepared monthly by the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce, has been published.
The report aims to inform ETO members about economic developments in Eskişehir. The June 2024 report includes data on exchange rates, Consumer Price Index (CPI) rates, Producer Price Index (PPI) rates, monthly export performance, import and export figures, residential property sales, the number of opened and closed businesses, the distribution of checks with insufficient funds, and the distribution of protested notes. Additionally, the report covers the central government's budget revenues and expenditures, unemployment rates, employment statistics, the monthly number of building permits issued by the Tepebaşı and Odunpazarı municipalities, the number of active income tax payers, corporate tax payers, and the distribution of cash loans by public and private banks.
Increase Observed in Checks with Insufficient Funds
The report highlights that, according to central bank data, the value of the US dollar increased by 40.74% against the Turkish lira in June of last year, while the euro rose by 40.22%. It was noted that the number of residential properties sold in Eskişehir decreased from 8,096 between January and May 2023 to 6,880 in the same period in 2024. Furthermore, the Eskişehir Trade Registry Office reported that the number of companies closing in June 2023 was 76, which dropped to 45 in June 2024. The report also states that the amount of checks with insufficient funds in Eskişehir, which was 14,225.04 TL in May 2023, surged by 657.52% to reach 107,756.86 TL in 2024, according to data from the Turkish Banking Association.
