ETO President Metin Güler emphasized the need for a focus on the economy at the national level and on the issues of Eskişehir following the conclusion of the local elections. He highlighted the importance of adopting a holistic and participatory approach in the management of the city.
In his evaluation of the March 31 local elections, Güler wished for positive outcomes for both Eskişehir and Turkey. He congratulated Ayşe Ünlüce, elected as the Mayor of Eskişehir, Ahmet Ataç, the Mayor of Tepebaşı, Kazım Kurt, the Mayor of Odunpazarı, as well as the district mayors and businesspeople elected to the municipal council in Eskişehir.
Priority Should Be Given to Eskişehir's Issues
Following the completion of the local elections, Güler noted that there would be no elections for the next four years in Eskişehir and Turkey. He stated that priority should be given to addressing the economy at the national level and solving the city's problems in Eskişehir. Güler underscored the importance of reducing inflation and achieving price stability across Turkey, while identifying the urgent issues in Eskişehir as the Northern Ring Road, urban transformation, and traffic problems.
Common Sense and a Holistic Approach for the City’s Future
Güler pointed out the importance of strengthening the building stock in Eskişehir, which is in a seismic zone. He stressed that municipalities should consult with local institutions and organizations on all matters affecting Eskişehir. According to Güler, municipalities and institutions must collaborate with civil society representatives and all members of parliament, regardless of political affiliation, to operate with common sense and a holistic, participatory approach. This, he argued, would enable the swift resolution of existing issues in Eskişehir through a unified will.
Continuing to Support Eskişehir
Stating that Eskişehir cannot afford to waste more time in solving current problems, Güler expressed confidence that the city could realize its potential in urban development and the economy. He asserted that the ultimate winner following the local elections should be Eskişehir, emphasizing that the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce would continue to play its role in addressing the city's challenges.
