ETO PRESIDENT GÜLER HIGHLIGHTS TRADER AND INDUSTRIALIST FINANCING REQUESTS

During a visit by Halkbank General Manager Osman Arslan, ETO President Metin Güler emphasized the need to address the financing requests of traders and industrialists, stating that POS fees, bank commissions, and export financing costs should be reduced.

Halkbank General Manager Osman Arslan visited the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce (ETO) on February 20, Tuesday, accompanied by Deputy General Manager Hasan Tuncay, Regional Manager Mükremin Gönül, and department heads. ETO Board Members Hüsnü Ünalan and Orhan Köksal were also present. Expressing his satisfaction with the visit, ETO President Metin Güler shared the financing needs of traders and industrialists. He noted that the Turkish economy is facing significant challenges and stressed the importance of easy access to financing for sustaining employment and the operations of traders and industrialists.

Traders and Industrialists Should Be Positioned Separately in Monetary Tightening

Güler acknowledged that monetary tightening is inevitable but asserted that traders and industrialists should be positioned differently in this context. He pointed out that ETO members frequently express their concerns about rising costs related to accessing finance. In addition, he highlighted that high POS costs, bank commissions, and export financing costs are putting pressure on businesses. Güler argued that traders and industrialists should be exempt from proposed credit card restrictions, stressing the need for firms to avoid adverse effects from economic developments. He also noted that public banks provided significant support to traders and industrialists during the pandemic, thanking Halkbank General Manager Osman Arslan for the support provided.
