On the anniversary of the February 6th disaster, we pray for the souls of those who lost their lives due to the earthquake and wish patience and condolences to those who lost their loved ones.
As the noble Turkish nation, we feel the pain of the earthquakes that occurred in Kahramanmaraş on February 6, 2023, as deeply as on the first day. We struggle to express the sorrow caused by the earthquakes that claimed the lives of more than 53,000 of our people and injured over 107,000 citizens.
In this catastrophe that affected 11 provinces, our country’s institutions, non-governmental organizations, the business community, and all our citizens worked together as one heart to heal the wounds of the earthquakes.
As the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce, we also became part of this solidarity that our country exhibited, by carrying out the most comprehensive aid efforts in our chamber’s history with the support of our members.
In addition to the aid we delivered to the earthquake zone, we mobilized all our resources to meet the needs of the earthquake survivors who were forced to migrate to our city.
The pain of the Kahramanmaraş earthquake, which is one of the greatest disasters we have experienced as a nation, cannot be erased from our memories or our hearts. However, with the steps to be taken and the construction of more resilient and new buildings, it is possible to avoid loss of life in future earthquakes!
With these feelings and thoughts, on the anniversary of the February 6th disaster, I pray for the souls of those who lost their lives due to the earthquake and wish patience and condolences to those who lost their loved ones. We hope that this tragedy will be the last earthquake sorrow experienced by our country and our nation.
