The EU Information Center operating under the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce (ETO), in collaboration with the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Children’s Rights Unit, organized a Nature Workshop Camp for a Green Future. Supported by the EU Delegation to Turkey, the event was held on October 14-15 at Soğuksu National Park, targeting children aged 7-12 and their parents, featuring workshops, training sessions, and various learning-oriented games within the framework of the European Green Deal.
Two Days of Innovative Education and Workshops
The event aimed to raise environmental awareness among women and children, who are the most affected groups by economic difficulties, the pandemic, and earthquakes. Training sessions were conducted by experts, trainers, pedagogues, psychologists, and child development specialists from the Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality Children's Rights Unit. The first day of the innovative, learning-focused training addressed topics such as "Climate for Sustainable Development," "Our Planet, Our Future: Fighting Climate Change," "Preventing and Coping with Natural Disasters, including Forest Fires," "Zero/Reduced Waste," "EU’s 2030 Biodiversity Strategy," and "Increasing Energy Efficiency/Renewable Energy." On the second day, the focus shifted to "Children's Rights Strategy in the Council of Europe," and included a Nature Philosophy Discussion Event addressing Environmental Ethics and the Climate Crisis, as well as "Yoga and Breathing Exercises in Nature." At the end of the event, children who completed the training and workshop activities were awarded "Green Future Ambassador" badges.
