ETO President Metin Güler stated that the share of e-commerce in Turkey increased by 109% compared to the previous year, reaching 800.7 billion Turkish Lira. He emphasized their efforts to ensure that Eskişehir firms can also benefit from e-commerce and mentioned that the newly established Eskişehir E-Commerce Center provides free services. He also noted that a working group has been formed within ETO to support members' e-commerce endeavors and prepare a roadmap.
In his evaluation regarding Eskişehir's position and goals in e-commerce, Güler pointed out that e-commerce is increasingly important in both the global and national markets. He highlighted that the electronic commerce volume in Turkey rose by 109% over the last year, reaching 800.7 billion Turkish Lira. Güler remarked that trade is shifting from traditional methods to e-commerce, stating that companies investing in e-commerce can significantly increase their trading volumes in a short time.
Eskişehir Firms Must Catch the E-Commerce Wave
Güler noted that in 2021, the ratio of e-commerce to total trade was 17.7%, increasing to 18.6% in 2022. He mentioned that the number of firms registered in the Electronic Commerce Information System (ETBİS) reached 31,320 in 2022. He pointed out that the cities with the highest e-commerce activity in Turkey are Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir, Bursa, Antalya, Konya, and Kocaeli, stressing the need for Eskişehir firms to seize the e-commerce opportunity.
Eskişehir E-Commerce Center Offers Free Support
Güler stated that ETO has prepared a roadmap to develop Eskişehir's e-commerce and is carrying out various initiatives. He noted the establishment of the Eskişehir E-Commerce Center, which offers free comprehensive support to members, including corporate identity planning, advertising, marketing, and consulting. E-Commerce Working Group Established for Eskişehir Firms
Highlighting that Eskişehir is not currently among the top ten cities for e-commerce in Turkey, Güler announced the formation of an E-Commerce Working Group aimed at rapidly increasing the number of e-commerce firms in Eskişehir. Coordinated by ETO Board Member Emre Demir and involving assembly members, the group is developing strategies to enhance members’ e-commerce capabilities and manage the process. Güler expressed that their goal is to position Eskişehir among the top ten cities in e-commerce by 2025.
