The Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce held its regular assembly meeting for February, which began with an opening address by Assembly President Halil İbrahim Ara. Among the decisions made, the price of a 270-gram pita was set at 9 TL based on requests from baker members. During the meeting, President Metin Güler discussed his recent visit to the earthquake zone with the TOBB delegation, emphasizing the vast scale of the disaster. He noted that ETO began coordinating aid immediately after the earthquake, with the board convening urgently to organize relief efforts. To date, ETO has sent 15 trucks of essential items to the affected areas, including 2,000 blankets, 750 tent flooring materials, container homes, medical supplies, stoves, electric heaters, clothing, water, and food. Additionally, two more trucks of aid were delivered in partnership with Borusan and Kipaş Holding.
Supporting the Needs of Earthquake Victims in Eskişehir
Güler thanked board members, assembly members, volunteers, and ETO members for their contributions to the relief efforts. He emphasized that ETO is also mobilizing its resources to support earthquake victims who have arrived in Eskişehir, providing three meals daily to residents at the Eskişehir Traffic Police Training Center. Güler announced the launch of a hygiene package campaign for local earthquake survivors and stated that preparations for Ramadan food aid packages are also underway. He shared that 380,000 TL has already been raised by the board for food aid, and he encouraged support from all ETO members and businesspeople to reach even more people in need. Güler stressed the profound economic, psychological, and social impacts of the disaster but noted that the immediate priority is providing support to those who need urgent assistance.
