In the final assembly meeting of the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce (ETO) for the 2018-2022 term, ETO President Metin Güler announced that the name of Mustafa Çekiç, who passed away last month, would be honored by renaming the ETO Assembly Hall after him.
The final meeting of ETO’s 2018-2022 term was held on Tuesday, September 27. Assembly President Halil İbrahim Ara expressed gratitude to all members who contributed over the term, noting the significant achievements accomplished together. He reminded attendees that ETO’s organizational elections would take place on Saturday, October 1. ETO President Metin Güler highlighted the dedication shown by the assembly during challenging times, including the pandemic, and praised their leadership in addressing members’ concerns.
Leaving a Legacy of Lasting Projects
Güler emphasized that ETO had worked tirelessly to meet its members’ needs and resolve commercial issues. He acknowledged the crucial contributions of assembly and board members in realizing projects and expressed pride in the enduring achievements, projects, and milestones established by ETO. With the upcoming election on October 1 at ETO TÜYAP Fair Center, Güler requested the members' mandate for another term, pledging to continue efforts to expand members’ trade volumes, grow Eskişehir’s economy, and boost investment, exports, and employment.
Recognition and Renaming Ceremony
Güler also noted that the assembly had faced difficult times, including the tragic loss of Assembly Clerk Mustafa Çekiç and his wife in an accident last month. To honor Çekiç’s memory, ETO renamed the assembly hall as the "Mustafa Çekiç Assembly Hall." Mustafa Çekiç’s father, Hasan Çekiç, expressed gratitude to the ETO President and the board for this gesture of respect and kindness. At the close of the meeting, President Metin Güler and Assembly President Halil İbrahim Ara presented plaques of appreciation to those who served as assembly and Disciplinary Board members during the 2018-2022 term. After the plaque ceremony, the sign for the ETO assembly hall was officially changed to "Mustafa Çekiç Assembly Hall."
