Aiming to enhance Eskişehir’s exports through international partnerships, the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce (ETO) has signed a cooperation protocol with the East Flanders Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VOKA), one of Belgium’s leading economic organizations representing 70% of the Belgian economy.
ETO added a new link to its chain of global partnerships by signing a cooperation protocol with VOKA, Belgium's most powerful economic institution. The signing ceremony took place at the Vehbi Koç Congress Center, attended by ETO President Metin Güler, ETO’s board and assembly members, VOKA President Geert Moerman, VOKA Gent Regional Manager Hilde Schuddinck, VOKA North Sea Port Region Manager Stefan Derluyn, Belgian Regional MP Veli Yüksel, and TOBB Eskişehir Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Chair Elif Gürkaynak.
ETO Committed to Supporting the City’s Trade and Exports
In his speech at the ceremony, ETO President Metin Güler shared that they first met with VOKA in April as part of the Discover Eskişehir initiative and expressed his pleasure in transforming this meeting into a robust partnership. Güler highlighted the importance of ETO collaborating with Belgium’s most influential economic organization, aiming to create a long-lasting partnership that benefits both Eskişehir’s trade and industry and Belgian companies. He noted that, with this agreement, ETO has now established partnerships in 24 countries and reiterated ETO’s commitment to supporting Eskişehir’s exports and global market collaborations. Güler also extended his thanks to Belgian Regional MP Veli Yüksel for his support and leadership in facilitating this partnership.
The Agreement to Pave the Way for Trade Growth
VOKA President Geert Moerman expressed his satisfaction in being in Eskişehir, viewing the partnership as the beginning of a significant boost in trade between Belgium and Eskişehir. Moerman noted that he was particularly impressed with ETO’s own fair and congress center and aims to bring together ETO and VOKA members in various trade and industry fields to strengthen cooperation. He also mentioned their plan to visit the Barry Callebaut Chocolate Factory in Eskişehir, which would offer further insight into the city.
Strengthening the Bridge Between Belgium and Turkey
Belgian Regional MP Veli Yüksel expressed hope that the agreement between ETO and VOKA would foster mutual investments, trade, and cooperation. He emphasized that ETO’s engagements in Belgium have quickly laid the foundation for developing trade and industry between Gent and Eskişehir, adding a new bridge to the growing connections between Belgium and Turkey. Following the speeches, ETO President Metin Güler and VOKA President Geert Moerman signed the cooperation protocol. The ETO delegation, along with the VOKA delegation, also visited the Eskişehir 3rd Agriculture Fair at the ETO TÜYAP Fair Center.
