ETO President Metin Güler discussed the economic slowdown, the rising exchange rate, and merchants' concerns during the July regular assembly meeting.
The Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce held its regular July assembly meeting on July 26 in the ETO Assembly Hall. The meeting began with a speech by Assembly Vice President Metin Öztürk, and agenda items were approved. ETO’s activities in July were shared with assembly members through a video presentation. In his address, ETO President Metin Güler highlighted the recent increase in the exchange rate, noting that the rise negatively impacts businesses that rely on imported materials for production, leading to higher costs. Güler emphasized that additional measures are needed to control the rising exchange rate, which he described as a potential risk for the economy.
The Burden on Merchants Must Be Reduced
Güler stated that ETO regularly visits its members and listens to their concerns firsthand. He mentioned that businesses are worried about rising costs while profits are declining. Güler noted that members are struggling with increased expenses for rent, withholding tax, SGK (social security) payments, taxes, and other obligations. He emphasized the importance of providing additional financial support to merchants, especially for small businesses. Noting that businesses are also facing higher utility bills, Güler said that members expect reductions in electricity and natural gas costs.
Our Subcontracting Firms Should Seize the Ford Otosan Opportunity
ETO President Metin Güler provided information on the chamber’s informational meetings and study visits. He mentioned that they organized a session to inform members in the health sector about government support opportunities. Güler reminded members of the visit to Ford Otosan’s İnönü facility with an ETO delegation, emphasizing that Ford Otosan presents significant potential for subcontracting firms in Eskişehir and urging small businesses to take advantage of this opportunity.
