As part of the Discover Eskişehir project, the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce (ETO) delegation conducted a series of meetings in Belgium, concluding with discussions in Ghent, where they met with senior executives of VOKA, Belgium’s largest economic organization representing eight Flemish chambers of commerce.
During the meeting, ETO President Metin Güler, accompanied by Belgian Regional MP Veli Yüksel, discussed potential areas for collaboration to boost mutual trade and build a foundation for partnership. Güler expressed his satisfaction in consulting with the leading economic institution in the Flemish region, a key player in the Belgian economy. He highlighted Eskişehir’s investment opportunities, trade and industrial infrastructure, and emphasized ETO’s readiness to support efforts to expand trade volume between Belgium and Eskişehir.
Possibility of a Collaborative Visit to Eskişehir
VOKA President Geert Moerman stated that their member companies account for 80% of Belgium’s exports and 65% of its employment, contributing nearly 70% to the country's economy. He expressed delight at hosting the ETO delegation and meeting businesspeople from Eskişehir. To ensure the discussions lead to concrete outcomes, Moerman proposed a visit to Eskişehir to establish a collaboration agreement between ETO and VOKA. He also provided an overview of the Flemish region's economy and its key sectors during his presentation.
