The opening ceremony of the Mediation Center, which will provide solutions for legal disputes among members of the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce, has been held.
The Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce has launched another unit that will benefit its members. The Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce Mediation Center, which will serve for the legal disputes of its members, was inaugurated in collaboration with TOBB Uyum. The ceremony took place on September 28, with the participation of Eskişehir Governor Erol Ayyıldız, AK Party Eskişehir Deputy Nabi Avcı, MHP Eskişehir Deputy Metin Nurallah Sazak, former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and Chairman of TOBB UYUM (Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center) Cemil Çiçek, TOBB Board Member and Eskişehir Commodity Exchange Chairman Ömer Zeydan, as well as representatives from the protocol and business community.
A New Unit to Address Members' Concerns
In his speech at the ceremony, Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce President Metin Güler expressed his happiness and pride in launching another service unit that will benefit members. He stated that ETO strives to address the concerns of its members through its various units and that they are continuously working to add new units that guide and contribute to members. Güler noted that members can now benefit from the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce Mediation Center for their legal issues, emphasizing that the center has been established with the support of TOBB Uyum.
Quick Resolution of Legal Issues for Traders in Eskişehir
Güler pointed out that the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce Mediation Center will provide solutions for members who have disputes with other companies or individuals without resorting to legal proceedings. This approach aims to resolve members' legal issues quickly, address disputes, and expedite the legal process. He highlighted that ETO members can easily receive support from over 10 mediators at the center, reaffirming the Chamber's commitment to facilitating members' work and helping traders overcome obstacles. Güler also thanked Cemil Çiçek, the President of TOBB UYUM Mediation and Dispute Resolution Center, for his contributions to the opening of the Mediation Center.
Eliminating Legal Issues Without Going to Court
During the opening ceremony of the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce Mediation Center, Cemil Çiçek, former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly and Chairman of TOBB UYUM, stated that legal disputes have historically been resolved through judicial means, but this path can be lengthy, arduous, and costly in many countries. He noted that judicial decisions often do not satisfy both parties. Çiçek expressed that the mediation system has been in practice in Europe for a long time. He pointed out that court processes can extend for up to 1,035 days due to appeals and other proceedings, emphasizing that the mediation system resolves legal disputes swiftly without resorting to the courts.
Working to Spread the Mediation System Nationwide
Çiçek highlighted that from July 28, 2020, to September 22, 2021, the number of files sent to mediation for consumer disputes was 85,403, with 30,679 of those being resolved amicably without judicial burdens. In business disputes, from January 1, 2018, to September 22, 2021, out of 1,271,627 files, 715,726 were resolved quickly through the mediation system. He emphasized that TOBB places special importance on the mediation system and is actively working to spread this system nationwide. After the opening speeches, a cooperation protocol was signed between Cemil Çiçek, Chairman of TOBB UYUM, and Metin Güler, President of ETO. Following the signing ceremony, a symbolic ribbon-cutting ceremony was held with the participation of the protocol.
