Following recent registrations of Sivrihisar’s Incili Earrings and Sivrihisar Cebe, the Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce (ETO) has added Sorkun Pottery to Eskişehir’s officially recognized products.
ETO has enriched Eskişehir’s portfolio of certified regional treasures by securing geographical indication for Sorkun Pottery through the Turkish Patent and Trademark Office. With this latest addition, ETO has now brought five patented products to Eskişehir, including Eskişehir Met Helva, Eskişehir Çibörek, Sivrihisar Incili Earrings, and Sivrihisar Cebe.
Promotional Efforts for Sorkun Pottery
With a history dating back 700-800 years, Sorkun Pottery has been a focus of preservation and promotion efforts by ETO. In collaboration with the Eskişehir EU Information Center, ETO released a book and documentary film on Sorkun Pottery in 2018 as part of the European Year of Cultural Heritage, further supporting the application for its geographical indication.
Commitment to Preserving Eskişehir’s Heritage
Commenting on the recognition, ETO President Metin Güler expressed pride in seeing Sorkun Pottery officially recognized as a product of Eskişehir, reflecting on its 700-year heritage in the region. Güler reaffirmed ETO’s commitment to preserving, promoting, and passing down Eskişehir’s unique products and values to future generations. He emphasized that ETO will continue working to increase the number of registered products, bringing value to the city by acknowledging and enhancing each of Eskişehir’s authentic assets.
