Held simultaneously with B2B meetings, the Eskişehir Industry Fair officially began at the ETO-Tüyap Fair Center. The opening ceremony featured prominent attendees, including Presidential Defense Industry President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir, Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Hasan Büyükdede, Eskişehir Governor Erol Ayyıldız, AK Party Eskişehir MP Emine Nur Günay, ETO President Metin Güler, Eskişehir OSB President Nadir Küpeli, Tüyap Anadolu Fairs General Manager İlhan Ersözlü, and representatives from organized industrial zones, chambers, and technoparks across the country.
A Boost for Both Industry and Local Manufacturers
At the ceremony, Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir emphasized Eskişehir’s long-standing industrial roots, noting that the city has served as a training hub with institutions like State Railways and Aviation Vocational Schools. Demir highlighted the strategic importance of the Eskişehir Industry Fair, as Eskişehir is a center for defense and aviation industries. He stressed that the fair will benefit both the city and the industrial sector overall.
Eskişehir as a Hub for Defense and Aviation Industries
Deputy Minister of Industry and Technology Hasan Büyükdede noted Eskişehir’s significant role for the Ministry, given its advancements in rail systems, defense, and aviation industries, all of which contribute to the fair’s success. Tüyap General Manager İlhan Ersözlü mentioned that this inaugural fair will showcase Eskişehir’s capabilities in domestic and national production. Ersözlü pointed out that Eskişehir, with its export-oriented industrial model, is a hub for firms in the defense and aviation sectors, leading the fair to focus on companies that produce goods and services for these industries.
Defense Industry Support Requested for 2022
ETO President Metin Güler highlighted Eskişehir’s deep industrial heritage, noting that the fair will showcase the city’s advanced manufacturing capabilities. Güler emphasized the significance of the B2B meetings, which will lay the groundwork for major partnerships for Eskişehir’s industrialists. He acknowledged the vital support from the Defense Industry Presidency and its affiliated firms and expressed hope for continued support in 2022. Güler extended his gratitude to Defense Industry President Prof. Dr. İsmail Demir and Eskişehir OSB President Nadir Küpeli for their cooperation.
Showcasing Eskişehir’s Industrial Strength to a Wider Audience
Eskişehir OSB President Nadir Küpeli underscored the importance of the fair for Eskişehir’s industrialists, particularly in light of the pandemic’s impact on the local economy. Küpeli remarked that the Eskişehir Industry Fair serves as an “R&D, Defense Industry, and Technology Fair,” allowing attendees to see firsthand both Turkey’s advanced defense firms and Eskişehir’s industrial capacity. Following the opening remarks, ETO President and the protocol visited the booths of participating companies.
