FOLLOW PRECAUTIONS TO AVOID HEAVIER CONSEQUENCES

During an informational seminar held for the hospitality sector, Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce (ETO) President Metin Güler emphasized that renewed closure measures could bear severe costs for businesses, urging everyone to take precautions to avoid stricter regulations.

Organized in collaboration with the Eskişehir Provincial Health Directorate, the seminar was conducted via ETOTV to inform ETO members in the hospitality sector about controlled normalization measures. Attendees included ETO President Metin Güler and Public Health Services Deputy Director Dr. Ahmet Mamur. Before the seminar, President Güler acknowledged that the pandemic had persisted for a year, expressing gratitude to healthcare workers and honoring their dedication on March 14th, Medical Day.

Service sector hardest hit by pandemic

Güler noted that businesses in the service industry, including hotels, were among the hardest hit by the pandemic, with many operations severely impacted. He stressed that another lockdown would have grave consequences for both the national and local economy. "To avoid further hardships and penalties, it's essential for everyone to follow the health precautions diligently," Güler said.

Hygiene standards for guest items: Wash at 60-90°C

Public Health Services Deputy Director Dr. Ahmet Mamur provided guidance on the controlled normalization measures required in hotels. Mamur emphasized the importance of washing items used by guests at 60-90°C, maintaining cleanliness in shared spaces like pools, saunas, children’s clubs, and gyms, and ensuring that all shared areas are well-ventilated.

Special precautions for shared areas

Dr. Mamur also underscored that shared spaces should have reduced capacity, regular COVID-19 symptom checks, and suspected cases should be directed to healthcare facilities. Regular health screenings for hotel staff, immediate health assessments for symptomatic employees, and the use of symptom check cards were also advised. He highlighted the importance of staff protecting themselves in crowded areas and strictly adhering to mask, distancing, and hygiene rules.
