ETO PUBLISHES "THE BOOK OF MONEY"

Eskişehir Chamber of Commerce (ETO) has released a new publication, The Book of Money: From the Silk Road to Ankara's Paper Money, written by economist, journalist, and columnist Deniz Çağlar Fırat. The book’s launch event was held on February 17 in the ETO Assembly Hall with a limited number of press members due to the pandemic.

ETO adds another valuable work to its list of publications with The Book of Money, which explores the journey of paper money from China to Turkey, covering its history up to the 1950s. The launch was attended by ETO President Metin Güler, Assembly President Halil İbrahim Ara, TOBB Eskişehir Provincial Women Entrepreneurs Board President Elif Gürkaynak, and other prominent figures, including Turkey Journalists Federation President Yılmaz Karaca and Contemporary Journalists Association Eskişehir Branch President Can Hacıoğlu.

A book that will captivate even those outside the field of economics

ETO President Metin Güler shared that the book delves into the history of paper currency, tracing its roots from China to the mid-20th century. Güler noted that the publication had been delayed due to the pandemic but was finally released after significant effort. He mentioned that The Book of Money answers many unknowns about paper currency and will appeal even to readers not involved in economics. Güler emphasized that ETO will continue to publish works relevant to both the economy and Eskişehir.

The journey of paper money worldwide

Author Deniz Çağlar Fırat expressed his gratitude to ETO for supporting the publication of The Book of Money, which he described as recounting the journey of paper currency from its origins in China through its worldwide history and journey in Turkey. Fırat noted that readers would witness the cultural, economic, and social developments of the periods when paper money was first printed. He thanked everyone involved in the publication and launch of the book.
